Writing poetry can be fun, and anyone can do it, children just have to believe. Using drama to encourage children in their writing, increase their confidence and courage whilst engage children who would perhaps be less likely to learn in a more formal environment must be worth a try.
Performance poetry is accessible to all, young and old. Children enjoy developing performance poetry pieces and having an opportunity to perform poetry to an audience gives a purpose for rehearsals for the children and staff. Collaborative working with Conrad Burdekin and Accelerate will ensure that everyone involved in the schools’ workshops, intra and inter competitions will be successful, being the best that they can be. This will also help to support teachers’ existing skills as well as providing new skill along the way.
Our first Performance Poetry competition took place on Monday 26th Janaury 2015 - click to see how we got on.
